Yes I'm planning on saving up for a PS3.

Here's the funny thing, plenty of people are paying the same for Xbox360. PS3 comes with an upgraded drive and Wifi not to mention a bigger storage unit (All on the $600 version).

Xbox 360 comes with a standard DVD drive and a 20gb harddrive.
Add Wifi = Either $100 for the 360 version adapter or $50 for Xbox version which will work.
Add HD-DVD = Was supposed to be included on 360, but they dropped it and rumor says they are going to be selling an addon drive for it. I don't think it'll cost less than $100 (It'll more than likely cost more)

So now an equal 360 costs you at least $550. You also get a 40gb HDD upgrade so it's now about the same at 600. And that's if a drive upgrade to HD-DVD or addon costs 100 or less which isn't likely.

The only real difference is Sony gives you the full package while 360 says you can get it later (which I think is a much better plan).

Plus, in my opinion PS3 will have better games (Already waiting for MGS4 and DMC4). I own a 360 and have 2 games for it, 1 of which I play (and it's Tomb Raider so I didn't need a 360 for it). DOA4 is cool but got old after a while.

Well there's a 500 dollar one and there's a 600 dollar one. The 600 dollar one has the memory, ability to use wireless controllers, etc. I don't know but I'll probably get the 500 one because I tend to delete old memory, and my couch is close to my TV. When I graduate I'll be making more money, and I'll have a big disposable income. I definitely will be saving a big chunk of my money, but I can still afford a PS3. However, when I was growing up there was no way my parents could afford something like that. I think most people are going to wait a few years until the price goes down. Kids with money spend hundreds of dollars every time they shop. But this is not a majority. If the games are really good I'm sure there will be some kids that will tell their parents this is all they want, and that they don't have to get them any bday or xmas presents if they get them this. A lot of grown men have PS2s so, they'll go in on it with their kids. I hope enough people buy it otherwise they'll discontinue or the price will never go down.

i have a perfectly good computer right here that i can play plenty of games on

the Wii looks interesting though...

But really, how many PS3s does Sony expect to sell with the price that high. I have a PS2 and i like it, but i never would've payed that much for it or even 100-200 less...it's way too much

No way I think its absolutely outrageous. I have the PlayStation 2, one, x box, game cube, and super Nintendo, and between all of them I think I only spent about $700, I don't hink anyone in their right mind needs to spend that kind of money for a game system. Perhaps if the price came down to about $300- 350 it would be worth getting. Until then I will be playing old games.

Hell yes....i am in fact going to buy 2 so i can turn around and sell the other on ebay because ther are going to be shortages.....and as you may already know the core system of the 360 tripled to $600....if i buy a ps3 i can easly sell it for at least $900.
