Hello, I know you all don't know me from a fly on the wall but wanted some imput.

I recently got called to come into an interview for a finance company. I would be handling their IT support. They have no IT support department at this location and that is why they are hiring for the position.

Long story short I did the first interview 2 weeks ago. Went really really well, felt toally comfortable. Got a call back last week asking me to go in for a second interview. The second interview was with the president of the company and it seemed a lot less comfortable then the first.. I was just probably intimitated.. Regardless I felt it went well, I was able to explain my experience, and how it would apply. Now here is where it got wierd.. The lady who did the interview sent me to another women to discuss benefits, I said ok all looks fine.. Then they sent me to a third interview with an employee to ask about the company.. that went well also.. Now they said they would be getting back to me..

So the lady says ok we will have someone call from the IT department to answer any questions you have.. We discussed pay and such, benefits like I said.. But no job offer.. Now I am wondering what my chances are of getting this job.. If they discussed pay and have me go through all these interviews im guessing they are somewhat interested.. Just perplexed at the lack of an actual offer.. The lady I talked to in the end was the friendly woman I first interviewed with 2 weeks ago.. She said there are a few other people scheduled for second interviews.. Now is this normal? What are my chances of landing this job... If you have HR experience your opinion would be greatly appreciated.. All other opinions welcomes as well. Thanks

It sounds like an episode of Seinfeld!

I hope you get the job. Your chances look good! But, if they are interviewing other people then I guess it's still undecided. I would give it 2-3 days and give them a call to see if they have made a final decision. Let them know you were impressed with the benefits, etc. and tell them you're really excited about working there. (Maybe in more professional terms, of course.)

My guess is that you have a BIG chance! They probably ask you to go through all these departments and interviews to give you an idea of the company and what you will be working with. Making sure that you are okay with the pay en benefits makes the process only easier. I guess they will have a look at the others but probably they already made up there mind. Keep having faith and if this is really no the job for you i think this is a great experience which will lead you to greater things.

I wish you a lot of success with you soon to be new job!

Being a finance company, they have to carefully screen all their employees to protect the company. So, sending you to several interviews is a way they can see if all your answers are consistent and to see if you would work well in their company. I know of people who went to several weeks worth of interviews, only to be turned down because they found a "more qualified" person...which was a hoot because of the nature of the job. As long as you're still getting interviews, they're still interested. I would just keep applying for other jobs, keeping an eye on your mailbox and on your answering machine. They already know you want the job, but don't look desperate. You should be hearing from them within the next couple of weeks, depending on how they hire. Some companies have to wait to have a board meeting before choosing their candidates, so it may take some time. If you don't hear from them within a week, give personnel a call and ask what is the status of your application, and check to see how long you can expect to hear an answer from them. Keep trying. Sometimes the squeeky wheel gets the oil, so to speak. If they see that you're making the effort to check, they may see that as persistence, a quality many employers want in an employee, especially a finance company. Hope you get the job. <*)))><

I think you have a good chance at the job, but if it has been a week, I am thinking maybe not. If they do a second interview, usually the pool of applicants is down to 10, if not 5 so they should have gone through everyone for the second interview and I would guess they have already hired someone else.

Wow. Makes you wonder what kind of a job warrants that kind of interrogation at interview!!

I think after an interview you usually get a gut feeling about whether you got it or not. The other interviews with the woman about benefits, and the employee don't sound too relevant to me. They aren't the ones to make the decision about whether to hire you or not. They were just for information for you, I reckon. The interview with the president of the company is the one which should tell you if you got it or not.

Good luck!

It sounds promising but you never know. Something like that happened to my mom. She went through all the interviews, did a tour of the facility and everything and then never got a job offer. They ended up hiring someone from within the company instead.

I would contact the lady you connected with so well and tell her that you are very interested in the job and ask if there is any additional information they need to help them make the decision.

It is not unusual for companies today to take a rather long time to make a hiring decision.

I do not believe a company would waste their time with all these interviews unless they were seriously considering hiring you. Why don't you call the nice lady from the first interview ..find out what is going on.

Be patient. If you made it to the short list, and they have you meeting the 'brass' that's a good sign. Sometimes things have to gel. Did you ask at the time when they would be needing someone?
I would drop off a thank you card and leave it with the receptionist addressed to whoever your first interviewer was, 'Thank you for taking the time to consider me and if there is any additional information required, please don't hesitate to contact me' sign it and put in your phone number.

I don't know if you got it, but I would send a personal handwritten thank you note to everyone who spent time talking to you expressing your gratitude for thier time and eagerness to join their team. Even if you don't get this job a positive memory of you could make you the best candidate next time.
