I hope the EGD is good for you, meaning not serious. I have had ulcers all my life, however, not bleeding ones, have had to have part of my stomach taken out because of them, and have had to learn to eat foods that my doctor prescribes. That is why I am not saying any type of foods, because everyone is different, and it's best you follow your doctor's advice to the letter. Good luck to you, I do know what it's like, it's no fun, but just stay under a doctor's care.

Pick up a mirror, take a good long hard look at yourself and identify the parts of your life you can change. You and only you can stop overeating. Ditto for the self harm. I'm not saying everything that goes wrong in your life is your fault, but there are things you can change. For those things you can't change, you can alter your reaction to them. So if something goes wrong, rather than assuming that everything will always go wrong, see it for what it is. Realise that everyone feels the way you do on one level or another. And yes, talk to a doctor. They've heard it all before, and a hell of a lot worse. You have to take action to change the things about your life that you dislike. Noone else will do it for you. It's a hard lesson to learn, but the earlier you do it, the better.

yes, you certainly can die from bleeding ulcers if the bleeding doesn't stop and you can develop a serious infection. However, most bleeding ulcers stop by theirself.
diet:
"Fruits and Vegetables. The good news is that a diet rich in fiber may cut the risk of developing ulcers in half and speed healing of existing ones. Fiber found in fruits and vegetables is particularly protective; vitamin A contained in many of these foods may increase the benefit. Some studies on associations between specific food chemicals and ulcers are as follows:
In one study, apples and yams appeared to be especially helpful.
Apples, celery, cranberries, onions, red wine, and green and black tea are also high in natural chemicals known as flavonoids that appear to inhibit H. pylori growth and have many other health benefits. In fact cranberry juice specifically may have properties that help prevent H. pylori from infecting the intestinal lining.
Of great interest are laboratory experiments suggesting that a compound found in broccoli and broccoli sprouts called sulforaphane may also be lethal to H. pylori, even drug-resistant strains. Additional testing is under way. "

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. You have asked a serious question and I'm going to give you a serious answer. YES you can die from bleeding ulcers. If the hemorrhage is bad enough, your blood pressure will drop to a danger level and that's it. If you stick to a special diet and your case is properly handled by medication, you shouldn't have anymore bleeding.

Take your medicine as directed and watch your diet. You'll be fine. I know people who have had bleeding ulcers and as long as they did this, they had no problems.
