Yeah, I answered phones for Gateway, Call centers suck. moastly they would call and complain to us. The dumbest thing I ever answered was people ordering a computer, AND THEN MOVING. so they would call us saying, you need to change the address. But we cant change an address once it shipped. Some people are morons. lol. I heard a story about someone putting a person on hold and then going to the cornerstore and picking up a pepsi, and when they got back they answered the phone. cause one of our rules is 'dont hang up on the customer' lol so beware when you call Tech support.

They take calls. Depending on what project they r working on they either troubleshoot on customer issues or work in sales i.e selling stuff over the phone.
Now if u meant to ask this question in a sarcastic way ? Well it's true that life in a call center is more tilted towards western values. You should read the novel A NIGHT IN A CALL CENTER. It's a brilliant book & u'll really know what happens in a call center.

They work and earn their money like everyone else is allowed to do. I worked in an outbound call center and people were sooo rude to me and it's like, I'm just doing my job ok, just politely say no or you're not interested and just get on with it. The people I called, their phone number and address showed up on my screen and I very well could have used that information to get back at them for being assholes. Give call center people a break!

It depends. There are call centers where they only make outgoing calls (telemarketing), and then there are call centers that only receive calls (like customer service). If it's a customer service call center then they sit there and wait for calls. Mostly, the calls they get are complaints or people with problems. they have to deal with both in a timely and efficient manner. If they are making outgoing calls, like telemarketing, they have a list of people to call and they get paid for how many people they get to accept their offer. They have to be able to deal with rejection and say the same thing over and over again.

I work in one. You call me and ***** at me because you purchased something you couldn't pay for and made other purchases on top of that... that threw you into having overdraft fees and you say it is our fault because you can't manage your money. then you threaten to sue us and the the company we take the customer service calls for if we don't pay your over draft fees or your renters fees ( rent when you didn't pay it and bought our product instead and now have to pay late fees on that) also you call us up and ask very asinine questions about all sorts of different things. I don't call out ( cold calls or outbound) I do inbound (you call me) and I handle all the supervisor calls and crap like that because we have very stupid agents who don't know how to talk to people and cause trouble for the rest of us because they are lazy. that is an inbound call center
