if you dig down,how far before you hit "normal"earth?

rock, and the depth will be different wherever you decide to dig. there are even deserts that don't have any sand at all, just exposed rock and "normal" earth everywhere.

I thought the "sands of the Dessert" were hundreds and thousands.

I don't know of any dessert that has sand on the top, would taste pretty yukky i would imagine..

rock.....sand usually extends about 20-50 feet as far as i know
