I am thinking of purchasing an iPOD, but want some input from others that own one first whether they are worth the money.

---PROS--- Easy to use software. Large download database with free* (most) podcasts which can be quite entertaining. Popularity (you know that if you ever want to sell it someone will buy it). Size. Screen is very good on the Ipod Video. (i would recomend the I pod Video because of the ability to watch music videos. The above person said it right, the I-pod Nano is a waste and so is the shuffle (unless all you want is a few songs on a stick)
---CONS--- Like myself, price. It took me a while to justify a glorified CD player for $300. The device itself, i've had friends (and myself) that bought one to listen to while excercising and playing sports. Needless to say that I've purchased my second one due to a cracked shell. I've owned other cheap flash mp3 players that i could throw on the ground and it would still play. The "wheel", after extended use i've seen it get harder to get the wheel to sense what i was trying to access.
---OVERALL--- The I-pod is a decent MP3 player and a very popular choice. It works well and has the best and easiest software to use. The price is reasonable only if you have a 1,000 plus library of songs or will once you buy it (it's pointless to have one with under 100 songs). And if you want TV shows and Music videos on the go then it's a MUST. Hope this helps.

Donot buy ipod nano waste of money- not enough room on hd.
Buy a ipod- much better and more space
Cons- battery lasts a year but it is only 60$ to replace the battery by your self, ipod headphones blow out too easily, i like my ipod, i have 20 gig forth generation and it is good I have 1330+ songs on it, at the best quality possible.

i think they are definitely worth the money, there are a lot of pros and i can only think of two cons.
1. you have to buy a different charger if you go on long trips because they only come with one that uses a computer to charge it (dual charger and file transfer thingamajig).
2. they are stolen a lot and i mean A LOT so keep an eye on it
