No matter how long you took the pill it's the same if it's six months or 10 years. Your body should get back to ovulating normally quickly.
The birth control pill works by preventing ovulation. Once you stop taking the pill, the hormones are out of your body quickly, usually within a couple of days.
When the hormones are gone your body needs to start again on its own to function. That mean it will start producing follicles again, which eventually lead you to ovulate. Everybody acts differently, some may take a couple of weeks to ovulate, other may take some months, but in general your body should be in "normal mode" within less than two to three months after stopping the pill.

Every woman is different. It is highly unlikely she will begin ovulating right away. After 10 years of birth control, it may take her body a few months or longer to return to it's normal cycle. Her body will have to completely get all of those synthetic hormones out of her system. On average a woman on birth control for over 5 or 6 years can take up to a year to get pregnant. However there have been some cases of women getting pregnant in a few months after stopping birth control. It all depends on her body.

You're both right. For some women, skipping *one* pill can allow her to become pregnant. And in other cases, it takes up to a year to get pregnant after the pill. A few women are rendered permanently infertile by the use of hormonal birth control. There is no way to know which category any particular woman will fall into.

This is different for everyone. Some people - like myself thought it took up to a year to get pregnant after stopping the pill (and I was on it for 7 years). I was surprised a month later to find out I was pregnant already. So it is possible to get pregnant right away and it is possible for it to take a year or so. It all depends on your body.

The longer you have been on hormonal birth control the longer it will take for your system to return to normal. I'm not saying she absolutely will not get pregnant right away but chances are it will take time, possibly a few years.

like all meds, it takes a few days to get into your system and a few day to get out. i know due to the fact that the docs have me on a boat load of pills. the doctors say that meds take on average 2-4 days to get completely in you system and about 2-4 days to get out. i would tell her to Waite 4 days and then try. but this dose not mean that she will get pregnant right away. it just means that the BC won't be the cause of it.

some people it will take no time at all. but in general, it can take upwards of several months after stopping BC to be able to conceive.

It depends... but most of the time it stops working immediately. She should go to her Ob/Gyn so she can plan her pregnancy and have a start.

I am pretty sure that once she stops taking it she will start ovulating in the middle of her cycle like she is supposed to.

from what i understood from my doctor if i missed a pill or simply quit taking them i could get pregnant pretty quickly. of course it could be diffrent for diffrent people, certain peoples bodies react diffrently to certain types of birth control methods than others.
