I know what you mean about being in shock. I was about 22 weeks when I found out that I was having twins. I was told that is easy to miss twins in the early ultrasounds because they can hide behind one another and not be seen. Most twins are delivered early but there are some that are carried full term. I delivered mine at 38 weeks. I would ask the doctor more questions. Good luck!

Sometimes they hear two but its really just an echo. I would ask for another ultrasound. Are you big enough that it looks like you are carring two? It seems very late to find out that there are twins. And if he thought he heard two you would think he would have made sure right then and there and I dont understand why he asked your 6 yr old that. What if there is just one shes going to wonder about the second baby. I would ask for another ultrasound.

You should have had another ultrasound to make sure. If you hear two heartbeats then your baby can either have a heart murmur or you can be having twins. Most likely since you had an ultrasound at 15 weeks I doubt it is twins. Go back to your doctor and request an ultrasound!

It's possible, but it's also odd how your doctor responded. I doubt he'd mistake your heartbeat for a baby (an adult heartbeat is distinctly slower). You should ask for follow-up on what's going on and ultrasound confirmation if he's sure there's another baby.

It's possible, but I'd be VERY uncomfortable with a doctor who left me hanging like that!!
If your doctor is good, I'd say he's just joking. If he's overscheduled and undereducated, I'd call and double check what he meant.
Twins are no laughing matter at 35 weeks. I'm no psychic, but I see an ultrasound in your near future.

my aunt didn't know she was having twins until she delivered so it is possible... you just never know but maybe you should ask your doc for another ultra sound to see if they can find anything.
