A symbologist gets asked to help solve the murder of the curator of The Louvre in Paris. Throughout the time he's in the museum, he realizes that the dead man left clues as to who killed him. The symbologist (Robert Langdon) realizes that all the clues have to do with an alleged secret code that Leonardo da Vinci left in most of his works. When Langdon teams up with the victim's daughter to try and find out who killed the curator, they find out that her father was a member of a centuries-old secret society that is dedicated to keeping the true story of the life of Jesus Christ a secret. The rest of the story pretty much just recounts everything the two of them have to get past to discover the secret of the Holy Grail.

The Holy Grail is actually the womb of Mary Magdaline which birthed Jesus's child. So the grail is her remains. That's basically it, thought there is a lot with secret religious cults/sects mixed in there.
