For some reason a window comes up asking me for my user name and password. And it will not go any further. Name & password are verified as good.

yes the pop3 mail port 110 and out port 25 are all intact. Our tecchie has also shut down the modem and other boxes hoping for an auto reset but no help there. I will call SBC for help.

smtp. --------network provider,
mine was something like
beachnet.net
or gtcom.net or
my pop3 was network provider too.
smtp---------your network provider
your mail is yourname@yournetworkprovider
then your smtp-----------smtp, dot, yournetworkprovider, dot, com Did you get it?

Let's see. There is no space between sbc and global

use
smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

Here are some other settings

Incoming mail server: POP3
Incoming mail port #: 110
Outgoing mail port #: 25

You really should call SBC on this issue.

try holding down ctrl button while sending might work
