apart from the points and for the buzz of discussion plus some people like to play GOD-like to feel like they know everything as in "hha I know and you don't" and some just think they're right

Here, probably just to get points and sound like they know what the heck they are talking about, even if they don't. I personally make it a point to not answer certain questions because I feel that i cannot provide a good enough answer to really help. I will honestly and openly say when I do not know something about something. I try to know a little about a lot of things. I will never claim to know everything about everything.

I understand why you are asking this question. I think this forum would be a lot more useful if people only responded when they had an intelligent answer. A better question would be: Why do people want to earn points if there is no reward for the points that they receive?

Sometimes for the points. Other times they like to pretend they know stuff. Persoanlly, if I answer something I don't actually know, I will give the answer I think but still make sure it is a sensible answer and that the questioner knows it is only speculative.

Most people do it for the two points. If I do not know the answer I usually just move on to the next question. Why waste someones time?

Ignorance is bliss and these people go on blissfully about their lives not having a clue. Then I guess it's the points.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you are talking about answers like "Dunno" than I can say that sometimes, depending on the question, it's fun. If you are wondering why people spew on and on about things they don't know or don't have a clue about and refuse to hear the truth, I have know idea. Poor self-esteem masked by arrogance.
