(i think) there are little grease fitting on the ball joints where you can put grease inside and should stop the sqeaking, on my 00 police crown vic there arend any grease fitting and the ball joints have to be reaplaced

If it is rack and pinion steering you might need to have it replaced:(. Look on the inside of your tires..if you see something on the inside of your tires that looks wet touch it. If it feels like grease then the rack and pinion needs replacing.
If there is a poping sound when you steer to the left or right then I'm quite sure that's what it is. If it is more of a whine sound then you need more steering fluid. If you aren't sure where to put the steering fluid just take it to your local WalMart, JiffyLube or Sears and they can help you. Good luck

Remove the steering wheel using an appropriate puller. remove the turn signal assembly (not a fun job). Remove the upper grease seal and bearing. Pack and/or replace the bearing and re-assemble. The turn signal switch is tricky. Make a diagram of where the parts go and dis-assemble with the battery negative cable disconnected.

You did check the power steering fluid level beforehand, right?
