There really isn't a difference and all of you out there who keep saying that if we invaded for oil - our oil prices wouldn't be this high are extremely naive. The Oil companies are making a killing which is exactly what this administration wants - Profits for big business. I mean look at all the tax breaks - the only group benefiting is big business and Americans who make over 1 million per year.
And to those of you who still think we went in to Iraq to help the Iraqi's you are beyond misguided (if that were true we would never have supplied Saddam with wmd's to gas the Kurds, after which btw we did nothing). The U.S. doesn't care about helping the Iraqi's - if we did this for human rights reason we would have helped the Sudanese. We are in it for our own personal gain, which is evident by the fact that the government has changed the reason for the invasion 3 times since the start of the war. The bottom line is that Iraq was not a threat to us and we invaded them - killing thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousand Iraqi's. The world knows that we haven't liberated anyone. Iraq will turn into a theocracy just as Iran is and the women of Iraq will suffer. In addition, Iraq was a secular gov. in the middle east, one of the only ones, which provided some stability from all of the extremist regimes - now the hope for that is lost and there is no balance.
The terrorist recruiting pool has just increased ten fold.

Well, first and foremost, 'Yahoo Sux' is obviously anti-Semetic - look at his answers and questions.
But to the point: Iraq invaded Kuwait to control the country and control the oil. The US invaded Iraq and within one week of crushing the existing government started taking steps to get the people of that country involved with setting up their own self-government. The U.S. plan was and is in Iraq to give the country back to the people, after taking it away from a dictator. Hussein's plan when invading Kuwait was for Iraq to forever control Kuwait and have a greater control on the world's oil supply.
You need to do lots more reading if you think that the US went into Iraq for oil - do you see gas prices LOWER in the US right now? Think for yourself, don't simply bahave like a parrot and repeat the foolish slogans of the political hacks on TV. Its obvious the US did NOT go into Iraq for oil. You do yourself, and your country, a great disservice by mindlessly repeating the propaganda of one political party.

"We accussed Iraq of attacking Kuwait for oil and now we are apparently doing the same thing to Iraq. Do 2 wrongs make a right?"
You think we're stealing Iraqi oil? Silly girl. We removed a Hitler-like dictator who was a danger to the region and the world. Please do yourself a favor and stop reading dumb-assed liberal publications.

The difference is when Saddam's regime invaded Kuwait the intention was to claim Kuwait as Iraqi territory, as well as control their oil fields.
When we invaded Iraq it was to remove a brutal dictator and his regime which oppressed it's own peoples, and constantly dodged or disobeyed UN Resolutions agreed upon. To bring self rule to the people of Iraq, and to remove a supporter of terrorism and a threat to security interests.
Our war is just.

We were in Kuwait with their permission, to repel an invading force. Neither of these conditions exist in the case of Iraq.

There's really not much of a difference. Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990 not only for oil but to show that he was the dominant power in the region. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

We are obviously not in Iraq for their oil. If we were, do you think our gas would be over $3.00 a gallon? We are there to help that country and try to get them to a better way of life.
