How can I reduce my child support when my ex wont improve her financial well being??

Question

I have no problems paying child support. In fact I want my child to have the best, but her mother I know doesn't use the $700 a month on her, but goes and buys a new car, big screen t.v. and other crap while my daughter wears hand me downs from her step-sister. My ex has not improved her financial situation over the last five years where as I have increased my income two fold but am now being asked to send in more child support since I am making more money to better my self.

obviously someone is keeping you from buying your child some new clothes. that's criminal. here's what you should do: get a lawyer and sue the person who is keeping you from buying your child some new clothes with all the money you're making.

REDUCE your child support?? UGH! This is so frustrating to me. I've been divorced from the father of my child for 14 years. He pays $142 a MONTH is all.

Then again, you're saying your ex won't improve her financial well being.

I work 4 jobs and make more money than he does. Always have. But, the court ordered he pay the minimum.

OK, enough blathering...the point is this: YOU can't change your ex, only she can. Your obligation is to your child(ren).

It's almost as if you're wanting to punish her by reducing the child support.

Something you should maybe ponder a bit more?

I take it you're paying her rent while she works some low wage or no job and your money isn't going to your CHILD the way it's supposed to? You should see a lawyer. It's not a matter of whether you want to take care of your kid, it's what she's doing with the money, right?
You should see if there's a way to make sure the money is going towards taking care of your child like it's supposed to. I don't know if there's a legal way to make her justify how the money is spent. Or see if there is a way to put 1/2 the money into a trust fund for your child or something.

I can not believe what the women are saying on here just to have money. If he want to lower child support so he can spend his money on the child when he has the child what is wrong with that. he is not whining he is trying to see how he can have his money that he work for. He is saying he doesn't want to pay anything it just that he want his money so he can do more for the child his self. I am a woman and my husband has mama mother like all these women on here and all they are seeing is the money. never mind there getting there nails done or paying for other kids with my husband money. I really do believe everything she be equal and woman should stop taking men money and do your part for your child and he will do his.

I think you need to look at child support as a secured financial well being for YOUR child, even if your ex improves her financial status...don't you want your child to have more in life? shouldn't YOU think of how YOU can improve your financial situation and stop "hawk eye" the mother of your child's money?

Is your child is being fed, has roof over his/her head. Has decent clothes? Is given medical attention. If you answer no to any of these questions reducing child support is not the answer, what you need to do is take custody.

But if you answered yes, As long as your child is being taken care of. What she does what her money, and how she spends it is her business.
