Meaning of life is to live. While you are at it, just make sure you dont hurt other or cause troubles. Now that statement I just put forward can have a broad parameter. What one might think right might not be right for others or in that particular place of living. So you have to abide by rules set for you for other's safety and yours. why are we here? Whats our purpose? What are we supposed to do? Why were we put here? , the answer to these are quite controversial as per as individual groups as a whole. Different religions have different views on this. Usually people tend to follow a religion and follow a certain guideline or not follow anything and go with self morals and ethics..

Dallin H. Oaks, “The Great Plan of Happiness,” Ensign, Nov. 1993, 72
Questions like, Where did we come from? Why are we here? and Where are we going? are answered in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Prophets have called it the plan of salvation and “the great plan of happiness” (Alma 42:8). Through inspiration we can understand this road map of eternity and use it to guide our path in mortality.

The gospel teaches us that we are the spirit children of heavenly parents. Before our mortal birth we had “a pre-existent, spiritual personality, as the sons and daughters of the Eternal Father” (statement of the First Presidency, Improvement Era, Mar. 1912, p. 417; also see Jer. 1:5). We were placed here on earth to progress toward our destiny of eternal life. These truths give us a unique perspective and different values to guide our decisions from those who doubt the existence of God and believe that life is the result of random processes.

If you're religious, then just follow the divine plan. If your not, then live life as if there were no tomorrow (ie, afterlife). Either way, you'll be happy.

Myself, i think there is no meaning to life except that which we put into it or create out of it, after we're gone, no-one will even know that we were around....at least a thousand years from now.

The meaning of "life" is to develop yourself as a noble person with dignity and to allow others the opportunity to do the same. This is to be courageous and not to have an image of yourself that is so enourmous that others must suffer becuause of how you define yourself and then do the best you can for others and have a good time.

The most fundamental trait we inherited from God is our ability to "create." We are here to create, and that's our main purpose. But we can also experience love and have fun along the way.

my dear friend, life has many meanings. it is not to be told but to be understood by oneself. you r not supposed to do anythng by rules or nythng of that kind, u should do what ur heart says is right. no one knows the reason why we are here, its upto u to decide why u r here. everythng that happens in life happens fer good. it is u only who has to understand by urself.
if still not satisfied by my ans then read some holy books like "Shri Bhagwad Gita" though i never read them but the people who had are quiet satisfied.
i hope u solve the mystry of ur life.
