great product out there called seven i recommend the bag its a dust you can sprinkle on any plant or vegtable.

If you destroy an ant hill, they will merely move the queen to a new location and start a new hill. You need to kill the queen.

There are a variety of pesticides that you can put down that the worker ants will pick up and return the poison for the the queen to eat and die. Don't disturb the hill, or you won't kill the colony.

You can find these at pretty much any hardware, discount, or drug store.

BLEACH... pour it down the largest hole in the mound. In a few days no more ants.

Try Salt, it poisons the ants...but I don't know if it's okay for your plants
