tough question since there are two strokes for models and airplanes all the way to 500cc gp racing bikes. For a typical dirtbike motor, about 6000.

To figure engine speed (RPM), multiply by the Speed in MPH, by the rear axle gear ratio times 336. Divide this by the tire diameter in inches.

RPM = MPH * gear ratio * 336 / tire diameter

My Husqvarna WR250 reached easily 7500 and after some work went 1000 more. A Jawa 350 can go up to 5000 and the Japanese 250 replicas (RGV TZR etc) went above 10000. All these for the street bikes. GP 2 stroke bikes went really high.

That would depend on how you define average. Single cylinder, Twin, Multi? The old 125 twin road racing bikes would run near 12,000 rpms and the 125 singles made their peak horsepower at 8,600 rpms.

I had a Kawasaki Ninja 250R (250cc sport bike) for a while that would reach 11,000 RPM.
