Isn't that kind of young to BE a father?
Oh, I am such a wit! half-wit, that is. When my kids were that age, they liked to give their dad board games like chutes and ladders, or checkers, or candyland. Granted that was a few years ago, like 10+, but they are only that young for such a short time, and yet at age five they are pretty coordinated and smart.
The board games gave them a chance to play with Daddy and interact with him in the evening while I got dinner ready. The games were short so no one got bored. Dad liked them, too.
The other alternative is something handmade by the child like a kleenex box holder of popsicle sticks decorated him or herself. Or a picture of child and dad doing something together.
The best gifts are the ones you involve the child in.

Take your child shopping and let him/her pick something out. It may not be what dad needs but it is truly from the heart of the child. Or homemade is always good get a white t-shirt and some fabric safe paint and let the little artist design a shirt. Or download a picture your child made on the computer and print it out on transfer sheet for a shirt. Let your child have fun!!!

If daddy has a desk, and hand print paper weight. Buy some clay, press in the hand, bake in the oven, and little the little one paint it.
Buy a cheap picture frame, let the little one glue decorations on it. Take a picture of her working on the frame, and use that picture in the frame.
If dad wears t-shirts and can handle it. Take some t-shirt paint and write, "Helping hands" then little you little one make colorful and prints all over it.
What almost every daddy likes, homemade cookies. Let her help stir, you bake, and she decorates.

Tepolt1, you should be calling People, Us, Ripley's, etc., for if you are a father at 5 years old you have done a miracle. Please call them now and announce to the world that you are the youngest father ever..... I can't wait to see the pictures.....

Make a coupon book for things like, "good for one father-daughter walk in the park," "one tee-ball lesson," "one bear hug," etc. -- stuff they can do together to have quality time.
Use construction paper, crayons, a hole puncher and yarn to hold it all together.
