It's not that people prefer it, it's just that it is preinstalled with Windows and integrated into the operating system. Some sites like Windows Update and Windows Live require you to use IE. I agree that Firefox is the best browser ever but what can you do. Look at the bright side that Firefox is slowly chipping away at IE market share.

It has everything to do with windows pre-loading Internet Explorer, people can either be unaware, or unwilling to spend the time switching to what is in many peoples opinion a better browser.
I myself run both, Firefox for normal browsing and IE when looking at my computers security risks.

Firefox 2, because all the great upload ons I had with firefox 2 do no longer paintings with firefix 3. once you've not used firefox in the previous, you ought to installation both firefox 2 or 3. better appropriate than ie7. Why.?? because it really is not a microsoft product.

I totally agree with the mad scientist
Internet explorer software browser has already been compromised by hackers, so why do people still use it over firefox?
I believe its the simplicity of ignorance and browser user comfort ability.

Mainly because Internet Explorer 7 (even though it's still in beta) is the greatest thing there is. Tabbed browsing, the ability to multitask and keep several pages open at once, not to mention the security it offers. It is a preview of what we will be getting with Vista when it comes out. (Vsta is already out in beta of course). Compared to this, the rest are all fair, but Wanna Be's.

I hate Internet explorer, and love Firefox. People are still with IE probably for one reason: Habit. When you get Windows they shove IE down our throats and get us used to it. Looks like Microsoft's succeeded in it for some people.

some schools have firefox and the students hack into sites and other stuff so the webs and stuff are all messed up. sometimes it is faster than windows so students prefer to use it rather than explorer. so all the hacks, exc are in firefox.

The reason most people prefer IE over FF is for the same reason they prefer cars that run on gasoline over electric cars.
The gasoline cars are proven, reliable, and don't require upgrades every thirty minutes.
