They use the left hand in India for this. The right hand is for eating

You could always do like we were trained to do in the Army: Since weight is an issue when loading up your rucksack which could easily wind up carrying up to 120 lbs in supplies when going out into the field, you carried several squares of toilet paper instead of the whole roll. Then when you had to take a dump, you took out one single square & folded it in half & then half again, tearing out a quarter-sized piece offa the resulting corner. In this way, when you were done doing you 'do'. you just simply stuck your finger through the resulting hole in the middle of the square & wiped you buttocks clean with that finger like you were using the edge of a credit card & then wiped your fiinger clean with the surrounding piece of paper real sanitary like. BTW, the little scrap you tore off to make that hole can be applied towards getting the crap stuck under your fingernail out. You're welcome... :)

If you somehow got crap on your face, would you use toilet paper, or your hand and wash both thoroughly with soap after?
By the way to those ignorant people above who were appalled by this question nearly half of the worlds population use their hands, and not TP, so its not a stupid question!

No the soap is a far greater pollutant than using paper

Yuk. No, I wouldn't think so. But, in the old days they used magazines,catalogs and newspapers that would work.
