I am a huge hip-hop fan. I saw a post about someone just ripping on hip hop artists.

Are these people jealous of the success they have gained, just people who dislike the hip hop music, or do you's think this is because more hip hop artists are black.(I hope this isn;t about race)

I'm a big music fan in general so I like almost anything... to answer your question, I belive the people who say those things probably lack in talent themselves and don't want to give hip-hop a chance. I think if people listened MORE TO THE ACTUAL WORDS THAN THE SOUND they might appreciate some different styles of music including hip-hop. There's alot of truth and reality behind alot of music especially hip-hop/rap!

I don't think it requires any talent. Lyrics that sort of rhyme with a single beat...that's it.
That requires no talent.
As far as "a race thing" goes. Perhaps if these hip-hop/rap people tried musical arrangement like Stevie Wonder, Myles Davis, and the list goes on of talented black musicians you'll see it isn't a race thing.
It's usually talentless thugs who eventually get gunned down by another group of talentless thugs over anything BUT their music.
I honestly believe that the black race has alot to be very proud of when it comes to their contributions to revolutionizing music over the years. This is not to mention plenty of other contributions made to the world of sports, academia, politics, food, religion and art.

Sorry...but rap, hip-hop and ebonics are something that every person who I've met with and my friends abhor and consider it an embarrasment to the black culture. I'm not talking caucasian friends either.

If you like rap and hip-hop then all the more power to you. One man's meat is another's poison. I like classical music at times. Do you? To each their own. You asked an opinion and you received it. Do your thing. But don't toss out that stupid race card. That always seems to be the thing that is waved around if theres a difference of opinion. Hey....Eminem is talentless too in my opinion. So...no race thing there. The music is not soothing to MY ears.

The reason Most people say that is because most hip hop artists have great beats but the vocal talents are far from awesome. Most hip-hop is just spoken with no voice tone whatsoever. That does not go for all artists because some rely on their vocal talent to get far.

Because they can't do it and don't understand the art. I grew up on the Warren side of 8 Mile Road near Detroit. I grew up playing rock in bands on the circuit on Gratiot mostly. I went to a place called Traxxx that had local artists from all genres playing on certain nights. I think because all of us were muscians, we respected each other. If the music has soul and takes a little talent, then it shouldn't be dissed.
Though I don't listen to hip-hop, I still respect the art and the people unless they are out to harm and hate.

Hip hop is today what teenybopper crap like Rick Astley and NKOTB were in the 1980s: lowest common denominator crap sold strictly on image. There are and have been some amazing hip hop/rap talents, but it's far easier to pose, call being off the beat "my own rhythm", and talk about guns/drugs/killing cops to create controversy and get attention than it is to write something creative. And currently, hip hop is the worst for this; in the past, it wasn't.

People always rip on things they don't like
it could be jealousy
it could just be because they can't open their mind and explore new music
i am sure that racism is part of the reason, some people just don't like minorities, that's a pity

but i like hip hop~and i am a 27 year old white woman living in the burbs with my husband and kids! I can't dance & and i don't go clubbin, but i think the tunes rock!

It's true that they posses little talent (I did not say no talent). They use previously made songs and just change the lyrics. They are at the bottom of the talent pole for all muscians and all types of music. Hip Hop also glamourizes gangs, drugs, blacks, etc. which is why the music is not popular.

I guess I should ask my dad lol. I think it's more that my dad is old school and so he doesnt view rap or hip hop as music.

I, personally, like it. I'm white and I think it takes a lot of a talent. So I don't think it's about race.

NOT JEALOUSY but tatse in music hip hop is not a venue for talent its a venue for people who think they are something they are not. they are only concerned with money and sex and trying to be better than =everyone else yet they are missing the point.
humanity needs to stop trying to one-up each other and begin to help others .hip hop is self serving and ignorant. and as for role models would you like it if your daughter was shaking her junk in a tv camera like a whore just to make some punk look like a pimp.
life is not about sex drugs and cars and money.and im afraid that hip hop is churning out a whole generation of self serve mindless sheep ....pop culture has a greater influence on kids these days than parents do...its the truth...it has for years im just glad that i grew up in a generation where we advocated peace and love and getting along rather than puttin a cap in yer *** cuz you scuffed my nikes.

no it's not about race,it's just hip-hop doesn't envolve much talent. I mean anyone can rap and parade around with half-naked sluts, all they need is $$$. It's ok that you like the music, and i am not convincing u do not like hip-hop,it's just has less talent than other generas of music.

Hope u understand
