We had a problem with raccoons taking up residence in our boat. Our local wildlife rescue suggested placing a pan containing ammonia as close to the nesting area as possible (or rags soaked with ammonia). The raccoons left and did not return.

If they're not doing any damage, why do anything ? They'd probably like you to go away. Remember the animals were here long long before people. Do we have a right to take everything from them ? What rights do they have ?
Many people think that because they're able to take everything for their own use, it's their God given right. If there is a God, why doesn't he look out more for the helpless animals ?
