Those kinds of things can really affect people mentally. If he can get over it and not play scared, then he may be okay. If his legs are okay as they say, then maybe not. Also, he could have some permanent brain damage and that could affect his decision making. Overall, riding without a helmet is just plain stupid.

This is really a 2 part question.

Physically. They haven't released enough information on his injuries to say how long it will effect his play. I'm guessing this next season he'll miss some time, but over all won't effect him too much.

Mentally. He's going to question a lot of his own actions, as are a lot of the people around him. He's not going to have the confidence he once had. He was told numerous times not to ride the motorcycle or he was going to get hurt. Bill Cowher told him to stop, Terry Bradshaw even went up to Ben and told him to "Ride it when you retire!"

He didn't listen, and he paid the price. and he'll question himself for it, and so will his teammates. and you can be dang sure that will effect his game.

Yeah, he will be looked at as an immature player now. He had two decent -> good seasons, won a Superbowl, why the hell would you ride a bike without a helmet? Even if he is ok, his team mates will see him as immature. He will also lose some endorsements since no one wants to support kids becomig a daredevil.

He has a broken upper and lower jaw, will make eating hard for a while, he'll lose weight. Broken nose, concussion an numerous facial fractures. That means he might have screwed up his sinuses and could experience vertigo and dizziness long term. It is a wait and see physically.

Mentally, he has to face his own bad judgment. Might actually help him on the field if he takes it to heart and learns from it.

I sure hope not... but if it does he definitely had it coming. People warned him over and over again. They even said if he was going to ride to at least wear a helmet... well did he do that??? nope... He has jeopardized his own career, the entire season for the pittsburgh steelers, and he has let down his teammates, coaches and fans. If this affects him on a long term basis then he did have it coming.

I doubt it. He had a broken jaw and a broken nose, but there's been no reports of a concussion or any other injury that would affect his play. He'll be plenty productive in the Steelers' run-first offense.

Yes, because his rehab will be long and arduous and leave him "rusty" and dull under center until he gets used to the speed again

Yes, because he will not be likely to take as many risks during play because he will always think back to his injuries...smdh
