My nephew got married two weeks ago. He's a very handsome and good young man, and I think he made a great choice in a mate.
He is a vasectomy baby.
When my sister got pregnant with him, her husband filed for divorce. Stupid fool - he has had three more children since then!
Of course, my sister is quite happy - even though her ex never paid a cent in child support, he did act as a good father figure and she isn't stuck with him around the house any more!
A vasectomy, as another poster explained in detail, is not a guarantee of sterility. But even the testing is no sure answer. In general a vasectomy is safe and effective, but not perfect. Using birth control on your own as well, with your partner having had a vasectomy, is pretty secure, however.
And oh, by the way - you would be surprised how many guys CLAIM to have been "fixed" and have not. Some are lying SOBs who hate condoms; some are manipulative jerks who want to knock a woman up. Be SURE before you have unprotected sex or sex without birth control.

After a man has a vasectomy, he needs to have a certain number of ejaculations (I believe it is 10) and then he needs to have a semen sample tested in order to determine if the procedure was effective. Any living sperm in a specimen after 10 ejaculations would indicate that he has some level of fertility. I know of several men who did not have the follow-up testing performed, and they all produced a child after a vasectomy. It does have not a 100% success rate, thus the testing is necessary. If he has been tested and it has been determined that there are no sperm in his semen, then he could not produce any children without a reversal of the procedure, which is expensive and not always successful...

There is absolutely a chance of you getting pregnant, but not likely. Many babies are here today because of the exact situation you are asking about. The only 100% form of birth control is abstinence!

Not likely, unless his surgery was performed incorrectly. Unless it was done very recently (within the past few weeks), in which case there's still a decent chance.
