You need an adapter to take the multi-pin output from the laptop to RCA jacks.

In the laptop (generally at the back) you would find a port which has a TV icon (a box with 2 antennas). You would need a cable (which I suppose dell would have shipped alongwith laptop) which would fit into that port and the other end would have a pin to insert into the video input of the TV (generally the white color socket). Now play the dvd on the laptop and could view it on the tv.

Your laptop has to have a video card or chip that has TV Out capabilities. If it does, you need cables for that. What cables depends on the type of TV Out your card supports. Basically, the cables will have one end that will attach to the laptop's video card, usually either with analog or DVI connections, and the other end will have red and white plugs for the back of the TV.

most laptops in our days have an S-video out connection. All you need to do is connect the S-video out with an S-video cable to your TV. Configure the TV to show what comes in on the S-video channel. Usually channel 3 or 0.

hook to the s video port and speaker out to a rc on your tv,,, thats what i do... oh and then right click on the desktop, select video and then dual view.....later
