I think democrats want us to believe is was by selling cookies.

Hmmm - I wonder exactly how someone moves up the ranks in the KKK? Do you get something similar to a boyscout badge for "lynchings" in the KKK?

But hey, it's a free country so you democrats keep voting for him. After all, he is your elder statesman.

So if we use the "people change logic" all those guys arrested 20 and 30 years after the murders they committed as klansmen should never have been tried.

You don't get promoted to a Grand Keagle because you promote harmony towards blacks and hold unity dinners at your house on saturday night.

The only difference between Byrd and the other klansmen rightfully tried, convicted and punished for their crimes was that he didn't get caught for the 1,000's of crimes he had to commit to be an exalted Grand Keagle. So I guess that makes it all right.

Plus hell, - he's a democrat, so just like NOW and Clinton during Lewinsky, us hypocrites have to stick together. Some party you folks have there.

He was the best scum for the job, apparently. Wonder if he called up his mom right away to tell her about his promotion? Think she was proud of her boy?

The same way Thurmond supported segregation and switched to the Republican party so that he would gain support for his hatred.

Byrd admits he made a mistake in his youth. Get over it. Ever make a mistake? Of course not. I forgot, you're perfect. In your own little dream world where all this crap you tout actually exists and is true. I pity you and especially that little girl.

P.S. The "democrats" don't care what you believe.

P.S.S. Why can't republicans come up with recent things to whine about instead of things that happed 10-50 years ago?

... it was at a time when African Americans couldn't even sit at the front of the bus or drink from the same water fountains as white people... the entire nation was racist...

But you don't care that it's his biggest regret ever, you don't care that it happened before 1950 and you don't care that he's from West Virginia, one of the poorest states in the U.S. and that actually VERY FEW democrats on here actually had anything to do with him being in office...

God forbid you talk about something that happened in the past 50 years, or even 5 years... like Delay or Duke Cunningham or even the Dems own Jefferson... which are all horrible...

from what I've heard... he was a member for only a year... so he committed thousands of crimes in only a year? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Byrd )

Everyone makes mistakes when they are young. Surely you're not proud of everything you've done in your life. I thought you conservatives were all about forgiveness.
