Why on the dating sites do the guys list interest in almost every other race but black?

I'm just confused and hurt a little. It's like black women are pariahs or something. I think it's a shame that in this day and age that people are still so hung up on stereotypes that we don't even merit a look see. I have discussed this with several other sisters(single and married) and they agree with what I've been finding.

Cool replies so far. Let me explain a few things. I'm not talking white guys only. Our guys do it too. Also, I have checked out just about all of the major ones-mixed crowd and black alike. I'm not tripping on the issue. It's not something I have a personal problem with. I was simply observing.

Go to a site that caters to African Americans.

I know some beautiful black people (inside and out) I also know blacks who keep stereotypes alive (a family I got involved with 8 years ago through a non-profit mentoring program) and I really do stick around for the kids, because I want them to see that there are ways to live that are better than multiple babies at an early age and welfare.

I would maybe suggest trying to meet men in other situations (I did meet my husband on a dating site though, but it's a lot of work, even when you are able to find men who are willing to accept whatever it is that other men don't like about you...and we all have something!)

Church, heath club, supermarket, men's department in your favorite department store/sporting goods also. Ask some good looking dude without a wedding ring on for advice on what to buy dad for father's day...perfect excuse to strike up a conversation!

From your writing, you sound like an intelligent woman who many men would find attractive. I'm sure you could use this as a spring board to come up with many more great ideas!

I don't understand that either. I'm a white guy, and think black women are the most beautiful and sexy ones in the world! And they are invariably kind, polite and smart too. My first kinda-sorta-girlfriend in high school (back in the '70s) was a wonderful black girl; I didn't care what my (white) friends thought of us. I love black women!!

I think that you're hung up on something that isn't true. Each guy listing has his own views and preferences which aren't going to change. I don't think it's that they are stereotyping black women, but just as some people become homosexual, people have tastes in who they choose to date.

I know many guys who would date black women. Odds are you're looking in the wrong place. There are even sites devoted to blacks, such as www.blacksinglesconnection.com.

At least you know UP FRONT.

Would you like to be interested in a guy for weeks and then when you finally go up to him, he says "I don't date black girls." At least you know that that can't happen.

Go for the guys that want to date you! And you won't have to worry about things like this.

you may be right. Because I am a latina,and i always notice on sites what guys are into..and black isnt that popular.I wonder why? I think black women are hot!

I dont know honey but every where i go i see mixed couples or their mixed children... maybe if they have one you could visit a
"black" dating site...
