Which car overall is better Mitsubishi Eclipse or a Mazda Rx-8?

I'm thinking about getting one but I don't know which. Can you please give me some facts too.

I would definately go with the eclipse. They are no 4K pound tank, and mine weighed in right at 2900 lbs. Very comfortable ride, excellent handling, and great fuel mileage. The rx8 is quite a bit more fun to drive, being able to break the tires loose at will, but its more hype than anything. I've never gotten the chance to drive a newer eclipse, but I know an 3rd gen GT eclipse can hang right beside a stock RX8. In the end, get what you like, but I'd personally choose the eclipse. Half of these people don't evn have cars yet. The Eclipse is way better. I have one. I upgraded mine to a 3.6 L V-6. And it runs great. So much or all these people who think front wheel drive can't handle a V-6. Mine does. The upgrade cost me $8,000, but thats cause my cousin is a mechanic. It'll cost a lot more if you don't have hook-ups. Also I've raced my friend who has a RX-8, and i took him out. He never evn got front of me, and the race wat at 1:00 in the morning on a 3 lane road. So honestly people before you post coments on here go drive the cars first. You defineatly want to buy the Eclipse. Also both cars last just as long. They are almost the same but the plus about the Eclipse is that you can pick up chicks with the Eclipse, while the RX-8 is usually ignored. You never see people drooling over a RX-8. Also don't get the convertable model of the Eclipse, its a little slower and it has less HP. You can't upgrade that car to a V-6. Also if you really want to you can convert the Eclipse to a hybrid, after you buy it. Which is something you cant do to the RX-8, because the inside on an Eclipse is similar to a Toyota, while the RX-* has a unique style.

I would go fof the Mitsubishi because of the RX-8's Motor. It's a rotary motor and they tend to break more often. An eclipse is an eclipse even in Africa:) The RX-8 has a nice looking design, but the 06 eclipse is pretty sharp

personally, the rx-8 rates more points than the eclipse, the rear wheel drive of the rx-8 makes it better on turnin than the front wheel drive of the eclipse, but it terms of speed id give it to the eclipse, becoz it is fitted with a 3.8 liter v6 engine with 260 horses as compared to the 1.3 liter water cooled single rotary engine with 250 horses of the rx-8, both of em are coupes and dont have proper leg room at the back though there is an available spyder model for the eclipse, it all depends on what you are up to, like if you're looking for good price or the quality of your ride, but it doesnt necessarily mean that if you pay good money you'll be getting a good ride.

that all depends on which year of the mitsubishi you're talking about. the RX-8 and '06 eclipse are very close in preformance, but the mazda is better for everything else.

Well the eclipse is a 4000 lb tank. They are front wheel drive. You can't put people in the backseat. They are way underpowered with the 4 cylinder engine. The front-wheel drive can't handle the power of the V6. They are basically not good at anything except for looking nice.
The RX8 is rear wheel drive, handles great and has proper backseats. The RX8 weights around 3100 lbs. It has a smooth, high-revving rotary engine. But its a little underpowered, but drag racing isn't the point of the car.

Eclipse will give you more low end power and a broader power band, but other than that, the RX-8 is a superior car performance wise.
