Not sure, my mother put her name on the telephone prefences service list to avoid this but still gets nuisance calls. One of those emails that goes around said that when you get the automated silent calls that always seem to call when you're having your dinner, pressing the # key several times confuses their computer system and boots your number off their system. Don't know if this is true, I suspect being really offensive to call centre staff might get you removed from their list of numbers, after all no-one forced them to get a job cold calling.

Contact BT and ask for the contact details for the Telephone Preference Service. Register with them and unwanted calls really do stop happening.

Destroy the call Centre! or Call the phone company and they should be able to block the number from calling your phone.

when these people call you with an offer you may say something like: This sounds really good but I'd like to think about it. Give me your home number and when i decide I'll call you. They want give you their home number!
Good Luck

Go to donotcall.gov and put your number on the Do Not Call list. I'm pretty sure you can also put your cellphone number on that list. You can also ask the telemarketers to take your number off their list because they have to take it off if someone specifies that they do not want to be called by that company.
