cnet.com has reviews. it depends what you want from a phone. full featured able to watch tv and use as a pda go with the treo 700w , or do you want basic no frills. see the reviews.

According to Consumer Reports the best phone by Verizon is the LG VX8000. It's $150, it's rating is Very Good. It's only got a 4.25 talk time BUT that is the highest time for any LG listed.
There is a cheaper model mentioned for $20 - It's the Samsung SCH-a650. It's rating is good, almost Very Good. It's drawbacks are a hard to read key-pad. It also has analog backup.

I know that it sounds kind of generic, but it all depends on what you are looking for.
If you're in a rough signal area, many say that Nokia phones capture the most signal. If you're looking for bells and whistles, check out the motorola v815. Its got the VCast music and has a great plug-in port for the charger. (Other Motorola phones had a two prong charger that was easily broken, don't buy a phone with this type of charger) LG is also a great manufacturer. I really like their lg vx 5200. It's not too expensive and it has the camera in it, but is also sleek and attractive.

I like the Razr and the Lg Vx8100. We have both of these phones and had never had any problems with either of them. I personally like the Razr but it is all in what you are looking for.

I loved the motorola 815 when I had them. It worked awesome and had a lot of features.
