Just like there are those of us who don't know how to cook, there are those who don't know how to dress. Some just don't have the knack for putting together a good outfit, & even if someone shows them how, they may be so uncomfortable wearing that new look, that they'll just look totally weird.
I guess having the confidence to wear something goes a long way in making it look good on a person.

Each person is an individual with their own sense of style and priorities in life. Some people probably don't dress in a stylish way because they are not into fashion much and really don't care what the latest trends are. Others are probably in a financial situation where purchasing new clothes takes a back seat to providing food for their families and a place to live. But, I think most just have a lifestyle that does not require snappy dressing. I am a mom who does daycare in her home. I typically wear jeans and t-shirts because that works well for me and I am comfortable in them. On those occasions when I need to clean up a bit, my selection of nicer clothing items is limited, so it is possible I may come across as not knowing how to dress. I think it is a matter of personal preference not only on the part of the person who is wearing what they are, but also on your perception of what is considered "how to dress" and if they look bad or not. What looks fine to one person may look bad to another. In the end, it's not what a person is wearing but what kind of person they are that really matters most.

man you have got some nerve asking that question. you need to understand that a lot of people in this world dont have the money to buy new cloths all the time and dont have time to throw away by reading fashion magazine or fashion tv. some people might not be able to figure out what looks good together and what doesnt.
i really dont think your question is appropriate in any way. if you dont like the way people dress then ignore them. you can dress all fancy if you want and look at yourself in the mirror 24/7 and worship your cloths. just dont worry about others.

These days the fashion industry has made a revolting mess of what trully fashion should be!

Some people just have no influence of a good looking outfit that calls for coolness, chic, leaving it simple but putting colors together that do not clash or overstate anything.

Other people have families and parents who do not care about what they were thus their children inherit this type of fashion attitude.

And another one is that today's schools and pop stars/singers make a real bad statement about fashion and since they are IN for being stars and singers people do follow their trends. Ending up looking ...bad.
(Madonna is a great topic on bad costumes! Spears and Janet Jackson let it all hang out).

Conservative but nice dressing is for the more educated people. Thus I think the answer relies on socioeconomic levels and Pop stars fashion fads.

I feel you baby girl but everybody has their own sense of style & some people care more than others about it. For instantce you might see a dude look like @$$ just cuz he didn't take the time to iron his clothes. Plus I think style is instilled in people too. When I was growning up my parents made sure I was on point anytime I stepped out the door & if I was on a off day looking like hot trash the let me know what's good best believe it (lol).

Some people just have a different sense of style than others. Also different clothes look better on different body types which is why even though it's a great outfit it still looks bad on that person.

unfortunately they have never read a magazine or even looked at the pictures.

I have to say that I agree with you.

It's easy to find an outfit. Look at the manaquin in the store and duplicate the outfit!

Or find someone whos style you like and ask them to go shopping with you. But make sure that the person is not going to make things worse.

I think it come down to confidence. If you feel good in your own skin than you look pretty good in anything because you have such a great attitude about yourself that your clothes don't matter. In contrast, if you feel like sh++ and you know you are dressed like sh++ then you will look like sh++, no matter how beautiful the clothes. Clothes do not make the woman, the woman makes the clothes.

I think because they just need 2 have someone who does know how 2 dress well. they need 2 learn from a model or something like that.

Not everyone has your type of fashion sense. Some people may say you can't dress, some people may say you can. Certain people just choose to not follow mainstream fashion.
