I have been thinking lately of having a breast reduction but I have some concerns, particularily the scarring. I have a tendancy to get keloid scarring. Has anyone had a reduction, and if so, do the creams and tape that they advertise really help with scarring? How obvious are the scars?

A serious answer for someone who's been there... before my surgery I was too huge to explain. My breasts were bigger around than my upper thigh. Guys don't understand the pain that causes. Now I'm extremely happy. I had my surgery over 10 years ago and have never regretted it. My scars are hardly noticable at this point. Yes, the tape they gave me after surgery worked great. the benefits FAR outweighed the risks for me. I say, if your reasons for wanting it are valid, go for it!

you usually get "keloid scarring" if the wound didn't heal right. if you go to a professional surgeon -- he knows how to cut correctly, how to close the wound correctly and will prescribe you medications to make the healing time faster. there still may be visible scar -- but not really keloid. but be sure to find out more about the doctor if he's a good one. there are so many fake ones out there.

I haven't had a reduction, but I'd say your best bet would be to set up a consultation with a surgeon and ask them. See if they have pictures of other patients, so you can get an idea of the amount of scarring.

Good luck!

Cosmetic Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

my cousin got a couple of plastic surgery including breast reduction procedures through the forerunners healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is more than very happy with the results.she just paid 30% of the amount she was quoted in USA.hope this helps.

I had it done two years ago. It was the best thing I ever did for myself, just make sure you have a reputable plastic surgeon.
p.s. did you know that ohip will pay for it in some cases?
