Why do MOST guys seem to find lighter color toned black women more attractive than darker tones and then on the same note find darker toned white women more attractive? I've seen this happen for years. I don't mean to say ALL guys have this attraction, but it is there or tanning salons would not be so popular and lighter skinned black actresses would not be so popular. Let's use common sense.

I'm adding this in response to a woman's answer.
1) I didn't ask for a woman's answer. You obviously can't think like a man.
2) I know there are tons of different shades in BOTH races. This is just a question for guys as I have seen this happen. It's sad, but true. Hell, same could go for skinny versus fat. I am fat and I can tell you that it is true, most guys look for smaller women. I don't jump off the deep end because someone asks why. Get over it. I just decided to take a survey on skintone for now.

Thank you.

Thanks Aimee, I appreciate your response. I too am pale or freckled. I don't mind other ladies replying, but that one lady did not get it at all. Sorry about that to any readers from here on out!

Speaking strictly as a guy, the most beautiful women I have met have all been "multi-racial."
The thing is there real isn't any such thing as race, only culture. Being able to operate in a larger number of situations and settings is very attractive.
Fortunately, as men mature most find out that looks are not the most important factor in staying "in love". Also, tastes vary massively from one guy to another and change with time and experience.
Anyway, I hope some great guy finds you and finds you absolutely gorgeous.

The whole music industry has opened up,and the trend of an almost musical segregation of the 70s and 80s has gone. That with the whole hip-hop thing has done something to break the taboos of certain race relations. There is sometimes an "opposites attract" therory, which was controversial is more ignorant times.

I know that youre asking of men's opinions, but I would just like to say that you are absolutely right. Im a red-head with very fair skin. I know exactly what youre speaking of. All of my easy-to-tan friends are the first to get spoken to by a guy on the beach long before I do. Good question!!
Ash Shakoor went waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy out of context with this question!

What in the hell are you talking about? How does your warped perception of things become actual facts? Meet a Black person, as a matter of fact, meet several. Then ask to meet their families. Within those families you will see every 68 shades Black people come in, dark women with lighter men, lighter women with darker men, light with light, dark with dark. WE ARE BLACK PEOPLE...Black is an identity (not to mention the essence of all creation) not a specific color. We cannot keep up with all 68 skin tones...apparently that is your job. Good luck because it is not relevant to most of us.

ADDENDUM: Just because I do not agree with your perception of what MEN THINK does not mean I "don't get it". YOU don't get it. Because you are overweight and pale and men do not approach you as much as they do your thinner and darker (that would be me) counterparts that does not mean that lighter-skinned Black women are more coveted than darker-skinned ones. You need Logic 101. Your reality does not support that conclusion. Considering all of my uncles, male cousins, brothers, friends, colleagues...their women range in shades of Black. Which would mean that they love all 68 tones. Your issue with men is yours alone. Leave us out of it ghostrider.
