No, IMHO. When the Doink character first debuted, it was played by Steve Keirn, a noted villian with several other heel portrayals in his past. He was awesome. Just think about it, a vicious clown. I know a few people who are afraid of clowns, and this couldn't have helped, lol. But then as the gimmick went on, several other less talented workers took over(including Steve Lombardi of Brooklyn Brawler fame), and the gimmick got stale due to poor work. The presence of Dink as a sidekick was cool at first, but it got real stupid real quick. Dink would have been good for a short time, but as he became more prominant, thats what killed the gimmick. Its tough for a heel to be effective when he has a midget for a sidekick. Just look at Dr. Evil and minime lol. My choice for the stupidest gimmick is a tie, and in both cases it was because it took a great worker and made a mockery of his ability. The first is the Red Rooster gimmick that Terry Taylor used. That was a flat out stupid character.Terry Taylor was a good up and coming wrestler who was good looking, had decent mic skills, and was a great wrestler. His skills are evidenced by the fact that he has been a behind the scenes WWE employee for several years now. The guy knows the business, and this character absolutely killed his in ring career. The second character was Dusty Rhodes. In a short list of the greatest performers in history, I don't think I would get any arguement that Dusty appears on everyones list. But he made the mistake of crossing Vince McMahon in the 70s, and so when he came back to the WWF in the 90s, Vince had him use a "common man" character and had him scrubbing toilets, unclogging drains etc. Lesson: Don't piss Vince off. My friends and I used to joke that if Ric Flair came back to the WWF (before the buyout), that Vince would probably have him portray a character with a name like Richard Sucker, and his gimmick would be the first AIDS infected wrestler. Vince is that vindictive. Anyway, sorry for being so long winded, but thats my answer.

There have been a ton

Duke the Dumpster Droese
Gobbledy Gooker
The Goon- My personal #1

Doink was not a bad character. The heel doink with the circus music and then the disturbing almost scary music was awesome. it was when he turned face that it all went down hill.

What about the mountie.

Doink was o.k. to watch. The most ridiculous wrestler of all time is; A.W.A.'s Jake "the milkman" Milliman; 1 win. He accidentlly knocked out and pinned Sgt Slaughter to win the Heavyweight championship, which he kept for a wopping 1 week.

My friend, this is wrestling. There are NO shortage of ridiculous gimmicks here. There was the Goon (a hockey player-they even had special "skate" looking boots for him) Bastion Booger, just a fat MESS of a man. and of course the ALL time LAMEST gimmick. The Gobbeldygooker from the Survior Series (he hatched out of HUGE egg they were promoting for WEEKS leading up to it) then they got a guy in a TURKEY suit dancin in the ring with Mean Gene. Ahhhh classic
