yes you absolutely CAN be addicted to soda... I am like that with sprite. There is a chemical in coke products called benzine. THAT is the bad part of soda as the stuff causes cancer ( at least thats whats being said about it these days)- you can also get addicted to the sugar in it which gives you a type of high.
also- the addiction is very hard to control as an ingredient in it is called 'high fructose corn syrup'
that ingredient actually shuts OFF the switch in your brain that tells you when you are full.
so the more pop you drink the more likely you will be to have serious weight problems. ( maybe not so much now that you are physically fit) but just wait till you dont do so much and wooohoo!! watch the pounds pack it on..
if you want to cut back on soda ( which recent reports have indicated that it also causes brittle bones over the long run to drink too much pop for years) then i would say count how many sodas you normally consume in a day. then for one week, decrease your soda intake by one can. so iof you usually drink 10 cans a day- drink 9 cans for 7 days. then drink8 cans for 7 days. then 6 cans and so on and so forth. Untill you get to a can or two per day. ( ps your kidneys can only filter out that much coke for so long, and then your kidneys and liver will be shot and there will be no fixing them.)
DRINK MORE WATER!!!!!
itll do your body good
:)

Coca-Cola has a common added ingredient: caffeine. Caffeine IS addictive, so it may be possible to become addicted to Coca-Cola. Also, before the New Coke flop, then the resulting return to the "original" recipe, Coca-Cola was made out of a derivative of cocaine, which we all know is HIGHLY addictive.
For becoming un-addicted, maybe try cutting back, but slowly. Maybe put back one can a day, for a couple of weeks. Then , when you can live without that one "extra" can for a while, leave out another, then you've beat two! And so on and so forth, if you wanted to.

Yes you can. it's the caffiene which is addictive my cousin used to drink nothing else but coca cola. I'd replace it with 2 litres of water per day asap and notice how yor skin will look better after two weeks. You might think it's not doing any harm now but in time it will rot your teeth (try leaving a penny (copper coin) in a glass overnight and see the difference in the morning. That's what it's doing to yor insides.
Coca Cola used to be a lot more addictive as it was made with cocain (that's where its name comes from).

One thing that is present in this drink is caffeine. That can be an addiction. Other than that, I don't think there is a need to worry about it. I also drink a lot of it and as far as I'm concerned, I don't think I feel addicted too. Do you supposed we have the same feelings when it comes to cokes? Just curious...

Yes you can become addicted to coke because of the caffeine. I myself am addicted to Mt. Dew for the same reason. I too get the shakes if I don't have one every so often throughout the day. If you want to break the cycle, start drinking caffeine free.

Yes, there are definitely addictive properties of sugar and certainly of caffiene. You're seeing this with your getting "shaky and grouchy" when you don't have one.
I don't know how old you are, but as you age it will become more important to watch those extra calories you take in, drinking a six-pack a day is a LOT of extra calories to burn off!
Try and at least cut back a little, although quitting them entirely is better.
What are "innards"?

Hey, it's your life and body to do with as you please.
Coca-Cola might be addictive...when I was in the US Navy, I knew guys who would wait until we went to the Philippines so they could buy cases and cases of Coke made with real cane sugar rather than high-fructose corn syrup; they said it tasted better. Hmmm...sounds suspiciously like addiction to me...
Giving up all soft drinks and only drinking water (and lots of it, about 4 liters/day) has done wonders for my physical condition.

Caffeine is addictive... me, I could never be addicted to it... I hate the stuff and have never ever drunk more than a few mouthfuls in my life. I stick to water and tea and never drink anything else, but that's just me. By all means drink 6 packs a day if it's what makes you happy.

Lol - you definately can. I have to have atleast two litres of diet coke a day or I get migraines and the shakes. Apparently it's the caffine. Regular coke must be worse though, because it has the sugar as well - twenty teaspoons a bottle...
If you want to cut down - try vitamin c pills and advil... it seems to work quite well.

Of course! There are ungodly amounts of sugar and caffeine, which are seperately addictive on their own. Together, they are very strong, and have been known to be very difficult to let go of. Soda is addictive to the point of absense, that is to say, if you don't drink it for a while, you will start to crave it. There are few health risks involved with it, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.
