I am 40 weeks, I went to the doctor yesterday... my doctor said Im thinned out all the way, 3cm dilated, and the babies head is so far down. Im just ready. She went ahead and stripped/swept my membranes again ( did it last week too ). She said I should be delivering within 48 hours. I felt contractions yesterday but today woke up with nothing. Im just so ready.I really dont want the answers that god will decide and choose when the baby comes, or just enjoy the pregnancy...

I wish I could go outside and walk. Honestly, but I live in Arizona and its 110 outside, so unless its at night - its not an option. Even at night it sucks... swelling. Also since I have had my membranes stripped I hurt so bad, that I dont think sex is an option either. I will try both if I can. :)

I have one child at home already, so its not really that relaxing anyways. I would rather get this done and be able to do more with the first child. I feel so limited.

All I can say is that I feel your pain. I was a month overdue! They kept telling me "the baby'll come when he's ready". That didn't happen. I was induced and went through 26 hours of labor and he wasn't coming. Finally I had a c-section. My son was 10 lbs 4 oz and even though my body was ready to give birth, his was too big to make it's way through the birth canal. The jackass doctors than had the nerve to tell me that if they'd known, they would have given me a c-section a month ago! I say go back to that hospital and make them break your water for you. Not all babies come "when they're ready".
By the way, I've tried everything these other people have suggested and NOTHING worked. I'm telling you, make them break your water.

I don't know what to tell you other than it really sounds like you will have a baby soon! I was scheduled to be induced and when I went to the hospital, I was already 3 cm, so they broke my water instead of inducing me with meds. I had had a series of contractions the day before, and just as I was about to call my dr/go to the hospital, they stopped. They were coming on fast and furious for a while, but just stopped, so I didn't go. (If I had, I would have had a leap year baby!)

Anyway, I will give you one piece of advice...enjoy the relative peace and quiet now, because you won't be having any for the next 18 years or so. LOL Good luck to you...I've been where you are twice (the last month of pregnancy is soooooooooooo long, especially when you're overdue) so I can definitely sympathize with you.

It's tough when you're in that position. I remember that feeling (twice actually LOL). I was finally induced at 42 and 42.5 weeks.

Sadly, no due date is 100%, and no dr. can tell you when you will go. But since you're at 3, and thinned out, it shouldn't be much longer.

Have sex! That's usually a good way to get things moving. Try eating some pineapple (there is a chemical in it that if your body is ready can help jump-start labor). Go for a LONG walk.

Best of luck to you & congrats on your new baby!!!

Your baby will come when its ready. Seeing you are 3 cms and thinned all the way it could ba any day now. Try taking a short walk right after dark with someone. Dont forget to rest. Being 40 weeks pregnant really takes a toll on you.

My first pregnancy I tried from about 36 weeks everything that I read you could do to naturally induce labor.....red reasberry leaf tea, black cohosh, evening primrose oil orally and vaginally, walking, bumpy car rides, you name it...I did it. They scheduled my inducing and I had the baby 3 days before. With my 2nd pregnancy.....I did nothing. I figured I would just have this baby around the same time or before. I looked at everyday as more time to prepare my house and the laundry and myself for the new baby. I enjoyed it alot more when I wasn't worrying all the time. They ended up haveing to induce me 3 days after my due date. Just enjoy your last couple of days without child!!! You'll have plenty of time with child I promise!! Good Luck!!

I know how you feel, my son was 8 days late! if you have stairs (not too steep) you can walk up and down them, or just walk around your house. I did a lot of pacing in my living room when it was too hot for me to walk. Other than that, the only thing that really might help is do what you and your hubby did to get in this position. (all that drink Castor oil and eat spicy foods thing is a crock!) Best of Luck Dear!

Try going for a walk(or a waddle..lol), I moved furniture(not too heavy, and didn't lift, just pushed it). Unfortunately, there is no sure fire way to start labor, unless you are induced. I would never tell you to just enjoy your pregnancy at 40 weeks! ! That is darn near impossible!!!! I definitely understand how you feel, my last one was horrible, I made my doc induce me on my due date, cause I was miserable!! Ice cream might make you feel better!! That usually fixes everything!!lol Good luck to you, and congrats on your baby!! Since you are already 3 cm...your labor could go quick!! Yeah for that!

is sounds like you're in the same boat as every 40 week pregnant person. My advice is to get some sleep, and relax. In a few days, you will have a baby that requires a lot of attention and you won't be getting much sleep!!

GET A PEDICURE! And tell them to do it as if you weren't pregnant. The nerves in your feet will be stimulated often bringing on contractions. When you have a pedicure when noticably pregnant, the pedicurist will avoid certain things they usually do on non-pregnant women just for that reason! And your feet will looks so pretty when they're up in the air when you're pushing too!!
