Well I think preferably that I myself would consider wearing "Business Casual" for something like this...just so that you can at least put off a somewhat professional air BUT if she wants to wear jeans herself, then that is her own decision...it doesn't reflect on you any because you will be dressed up more...I would let her go and do what she wants but let her know that she may not come off looking as "professional" as she could if she dressed up just a bit. If this is something you are really interested in going to...then just go alone if she makes you feel too uncomfortable but I wouldn't worry too much, just concentrate on making yourself look "good".
Best of Luck!!

Hmmm, well, I think a job fair is for your own good, really, so I think you should go. If your friend looks out-of-place at the job fair, I suppose you could walk around on your own although that might sort of mean. Depends on how close you guys are and how much your image means to you (also, try your hardest to persuade your friend to wear business casual)!

I can see what you're getting at, but I don't think that her being in jeans would be much of an issue. In fact, if you were both at the job fair seeking employment or career opportunities, your style of dress - if more professional - may cause you to stand out as a more attractive job candidate. By attractive, I don't refer to beauty, but rather judgment.

I think you should look respectable, esp if people are looking for someone like you or her to join their team. I think she is in the wrong. Wearing jeans isnt something Id look for, when kinda applying for a job. Ive never been to one, so im just guessing ppl sort of interview at one. And by that, clothes matter a lot.

Evidently, you are taking this event seriously. Dress for success. Does she want a job at McDonald's, then? You can be a rebel in High School. In the work-a-day world, there is a dress code. It may only be implied, but lets see who gets the better paying job at the end of all this.

If you are seriously looking for a job then you need to dress appropriately. As a Human Resources professional I would give more credibility to someone who took the time to dress professionally than someone who looks like they just stumbled on the job fair.

I think you definitely had the right idea of how to dress for a job fair, but your friend's choices should not reflect on you. I would have gone along -- dressed appropriately -- and availed myself of the opportunity to find an exciting, new career.

I've always been told that you should be a little more than casual at job fairs.
