some of the white people on yahoo answers say that blacks are racist, but just by being on yahoo answers i have seen more racist post from whites saying things like "why do black people arm pitts stink" and other ignorant s h i t even on jokes/riddles board its always a joke about a black person, and why is there bet and black history month you dont see black people posting "why is there abc or country music channel" or christopher columbus day (when his a s s did nothing but steal the land) and presidents day (there are no black presidents) so we are celebrating white men who lie, but you dont see us asking why we have to celebrate those certain days, we just get something for us and wait for you whites to get angry and jealous.

I happy that someone has finally asked this question. My younger sister was using yahoo answers, and a really racist comment was posted to answer her question, she was really crushed, and I was angry, and now 2 weeks later you question is here.
I just wanted to address the whole BET thing, because most people answering the question don't seem to understand. BET or Black Entertainment Television was established about 25 years ago b/c MTV and other music television shows did not want to play the music that is popular in the urban community. BET is not racist, it was made to counterract racism, yet people just don't understand. It does not feature only blacks, it features urban music that's popular, so it shouldn't be confused with other stuff.
Black History month is the shortest month of the year, which I find very insulting, it should be celebrated year round. This country was founded on the backs of slaves immigrants, yet no respect is given. Dignity is often taken away. Other ethnic groups have months to celebrate their heritage as well, so what's the problem, it's not racist. I don't really like President's Day either, b/c most presidents were and are racists, from slave owning George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and his slave mistress, Woodrow Wilson and his publically known racists comments to current president Bush and his comments on minorities (black, hispanic, and native american) in schools. I could go on, but I thought i'd just give a quick summary. Oh yeah, someone mentioned the Civil War, Lincoln didn't want to end slavery, but did, b/c some union states pressured him he folded, he was more concerned w/ keeping the nation together. He didn't really care about the slaves, his family owned slaves.
I know where you're coming from, I see the racist questions posted, and they are very hurtful. The funny thing is that most people responding to this question are people secretly afraid of those different from themselves. They really really don't understand, and swear out that everyone's guilty of being racists, but it's not true.

I want to ask where you are from. I am "white" and live in Alabama, the state notorious for racism and segregation. And things are MUCH different now a days. The tables have turned and now, I and my generation are paying for things that my grandfather's generation did! (and quite frankly, I come from a poor background of irish immigrant ancestory so I don't get why I am paying for something I and my family most likley had no part in).

I've been an employee that did not get a promotion because there was a black woman who needed it more. I've seen black women and men get away with all kinds of stuff because they threatened the company with a lawsuit if they didn't get their way. I've seen a black man use racially and religiously derrogatory quips to a white man and when the white man returned the favor (both were joking, btw) the white man lost his job and the black man got a promotion.

Just out back of the college is a huge billboard that advertises: Black Radio at it's best!
Can you imagine if that sign said "White Radio at it's best!" Jesse Jackson would be demonstrating immediately!

I just think this hypocritical bs needs to end. I know it is not every person in a race that makes it bad, but the bad apples are really getting to me on BOTH sides. Believe me, in Alabama there are plenty of rednecks too. Can't stand them either...and I'm not talking about the Jeff Foxworthy version, I'm talking hardcore ignorant racist people.

And btw, not everything is a knock against your color. Get the chip off your shoulder. Otherwise your life is not gonna be too happy. I'm pagan and live in the south - the "Bible Belt". Try going through that kind of discrimination for a while. None of my holidays are mentioned on the calendar, even though the holidays I celebrate were adapted by the Christian Church. If I try to organize a ceremony publicly in the po-dunk town I live in the churches will organize and demonstrate outside my door (it has been done).

I just ask that you think about things before you ask the question.

I understand where you are coming from. Even though white people on this site don't want to admit it but there is a whole lot more racist comments about black people and also hispanics. It's quite sad...In this day and age you would think that all this madness would come to an end but this is the world we live in.

I think that we as blacks, hispanics and other minorities should stick together and keep beign educated, driven, and successful people. With that we will surpass the ignorants.

By the way I know its hard but don't take it personally these people are saying these things because they are uneducated trash..... Society's Rejects!!! these people are trying to get attention...Don't give it to them.!

They are probably a bunch of red necks that sleeps with there children and screws the family dog. They are not worth your time or energy.

So, should there not be a presidents day, just because there have been no black presidents? Thats stupid. There have also been no women presidents. Why complain because none are black and not because none are women, if you are saying presidents day is biased. Black history month and BET are racist. Granted there are not a lot of blacks on the country music channel, (because not a lot of blacks sing country music), but white people dont call it white music television because Jesse Jackson would be up in arms. first of all racism is a two way street. i am a white male. i am not ashamed of who i am because of my race. if there are more people who say they are white making stupid comments then blame it on socio-economic factors limiting access to internet and computers. However do not make this into a poor me im "ethnic group here". Througout history it has been the people who stood up together and said not that this is not how this should be but how this is how it could be. Let's not forget how many whites died during the civil war. do you think that at that time the north really cared about the slave situation? no. they didn't. abraham lincoln tried to correct a mistake and it has been corrected. people are still ignorant people, but the only way you can prove people wrong is by being better than they expect. when role models have sunk from great heroes and leaders who were willing to die like martin luther king jr or malcolm x, or even as far back as the first all black regiment in the civil war from massachusetts to people who advocate violence against people of their same race, violence and degredation of women, about bling bling and status symbols that don't matter when you can't feed your child. news flash whites are no longer the majority in the united states, people of color outweigh non-mixed whites.

A good test for whether what you are writing is "racist" is to change the terms "black" and "white" and see if it bothers you, even a little.
Suppose there were a television network called "White Entertainment Television"? Supose I said, "we are celebrating black me who lie." Isn't that the least bit annoying to you?
I bet it is.
Personally, I am not "white," I am sort of a nice ecru, deepening to a burnt umber in summer. So I do not take personal offense at your remarks, but there are a few albinos on the board who might.

so, because some white people are racist towards black people, that makes it right for you as black people(are u?) to counter it back by saying white people are racist?? u r not racist?? when u say white people are racist without specifying which white people is racist, u r racist, because u stereotype all white people. Racist people are full of hatred and insecurity. Regardless of which race u hate, or which race u r. Racist people are themselves a separate race. There is no way for racial distinction to disappear completely. Even a child looking at a doodling of a cartoon puppy can tell the patch of colors and lines is a puppy. How is it possible for anyone to look at the skin color and not recognise u as black or white? But recognising, acknowledging, skin color does not need to be in the discriminating way. Different races has their own beauty, abilities, cultures... is there a need to feel insecure about anything?? This racist thing is not about own race superiority, but rather insecurity about yourself. Worrying if your own culture is not as superior as others. If u do not even feel proud and confident about your own ancestry and culture, how can u make other ppl respect u??? I dont care if u r black or white, I just hate people who talk like u.

Yes, it's quite shocking actually. What's worse is so many of them with their heads up their asss!

If we EVER get on a level playing field, (which generations of Whites did their damndest to avoid) there would be no need for the NAACP or Black History month.

I wish the day would come where none of that is necessary, but I can see by a lot of the attitudes here, that day is not soon

I resent that, being white. I have close friends of different races, nationalities and genders and I don't care for those who lump whites into one category...no matter what your color.

Unlike most of the people who responded, I noticed the "some" in front of white people, indicating that you were not referring to all whites. but to those who still live in the dark ages and discriminate againsts blacks. They are just jerks who need attention, so they ask questions that they know will get them the attention they need. I just ignore it and/or reply with an answer that goes against any misconceptions they may have.
