Old Zealand is known today as Atlantis. It was formerly a land mass attached to what is now New Zealand but broke away during a cataclysmic earthquake sometime in the 3rd century. As the mass floated freely throught the years it finally came to rest in the Southern Atlantic - thus the reference to Atlantis.

Legend has it that there was another event that actually caused a whirlpool to open up and take Atlantis down into the sea. Historians and treasure seekers still seek today to discover the exact spot of Old Zealand's demise.
