A praying mantis will eat almost anything. The best thing to get them at a pet store would be the mini crickets or small mealworms. I had one last summer and it loved to eat bees, it ate it head first as not to get stung.

Probably it will die in captivity. They eat a lot of smaller bugs. They eat all the time. It will be difficult to keep them fed to the level and diet they require. They pick the bugs based on the nutrients they need.
