Flowers and Jewelry for your wife!

I'd invest in government bonds, which increase in value every year, and if it is indeed a 'large' sum of money, then it would really be worth the interest. Otherwise, put it in a bank account with a nice interest rate, so when your kids hit college you can surprise them with full tuition coverage. Or keep it for retirement, as the younger generation will not have Social Security, so invest it in the bank so you aren't eating canned dog food when you're 70 to survive, as the government is setting us up for.

Make it a gift for the both of you. Chances are she will find out about the money and the only thing that will keep you from sleeping on the couch for a few weeks will be if you can make it look like it was being saved without her knowing because you wanted to surpirise her. A vacation to somewhere like Aruba or Barbados is always nice.

Spend it on me... sounds like if your wife finds you've been hiding something like this you may be looking for someone else to spend it on!

Why spend it? Put it in a retirement account and forget about it. That way you will be considered wise as opposed to sneaky.

You Should probably invest it or buy some Real Estate then tell her it was a surprise so that she won't feel betrayed or lied to.
