Go to an automotive store and buy blue magic carpet cleaner. IF the spot is too big or bad, try and automotive degreaser (purple stuff works good). Test in an hidden spot first so you know it doesn't fade or change the color of your carpet. Other people I know have tried dawn dishwashing soap since that is also a degreaser...I haven't tried that though so it may or may not work.

After poltting, place kitchen paper on the stain and iron to absorb the grease. Follow with a carpet shampoo. Tackle old stains with stain remover .

Castrol has an engine degreaser - try it watered down on a small, hidden part of your carpet and if it does not ruin it, try in on your grease stain.

buy some scotchguard Oxy carpet cleaner plus stain protector at your local supermarket. The stuff works great. I also use it in my car because my husband is a mechanic and the cars get pretty dirty when he looses the fight with the oil pan.

WD 40 will get it out, but first try it in an area like an a closet to check for color fast. Another product Goof Off will also work, but always test first where it wont be seen as with any product.
