Depends. If it's the printed name, it will be letters or characters that represent sound to indicate that which the name refers to. If it's the spoken name, it will be a sounds or more than likely a string of sounds to indicate that which the name refers to. If it's a signed name, it will be various jesters to indicate that which the name refers to.
