Since when has CNN been positive about anything?

CNN is not obligated to present anything. They are a business, not a public service. If you want a different perspective of Africa, go to a different source: National Geographic probably has some pretty pictures. Don't read too much of the articles, though, because you might encounter some truth about the reason AIDS is such an epidemic (rape by militant groups; widespread kidnapping and enslavement of women for prostitution). When people endure such extreme suffering as near starvation, death from a minor cut because of not having soap, and constant war; it's newsworthy and relevant.

CNN, like all popular media are agenda driven, there is a team of people who decide what stories, with what angles, are to be aired. These people are influenced by the ownership, and the interests of those who have the power to influence the ownership of the media. This is more obvious when the government owns and/or controls the media. Less obvious but equally controlled for privately owned well financed media. The "truth"?, you may ask, is a conceptual anomalie, in this physical universe.

CNN and any other news media company will only report anything shocking or disturbing, because that is what got them popularity and money. If you want to see the good side of any country you have to check the travel channels, and to a lesser extent the documentary channels.

CNN and FOX News are government stations, they only tell you what the government wants you to hear. The news they produce isn't worth a shyte and never will be they are the worst! Its entertainment not news, go underground for good news reports!

Probably because there isn't any. The Western world has forgotten that, like the middle european countries (including Turkey), they are tribal. No point in trying to impose western ideas on them. Last year (or 2004) the Turks wanted to make a law making adultery illegal! Just like the muslim counties! We need that in the EU like we need another Tony Blair!
