But when I add full cartridges, it still tells me they're empty. Any quick, obvious ideas?

Funny thing, you have to tell a lexmark that you have installed a new cartridge. Consult you manual. It is usually in the printer tool box or utility menu.

Possibly didn't take off the plastic at the tip of the cartridge where the ink comes out.

I have a Lexmark and I have the SAME problem! I'm going to try a couple of the suggestions! Thank for asking!

unplug your printer for 5 minutes and then plug it back in, should see the ink correctly.

Did you be sure to click the "New Ink" button and not the "Old Ink."

Update the drivers perhaps and retry?
