Hi, I have an interview on Monday in an IT company. I have to demonstrate my IT skills for the two following projects:
1. Video Multiplexer project (already implemented but have to improve it).
2. Demographic Analysis (have to learn AJAX technology).

Any ideas, information on the web etc, I am very thankful to you all.

I am currently doing BSc (Hons) Software Engineering, I have just completed my second year.

I couldnt tell you what types of technical questions they are going to ask you because it could be about pretty much anything.

I interview people all the time for my IT group because I am a Team Leader for Web developers.

I always look for these criterias when I choose someone to work for me.

1) I look at the resume to see what types of skills you have. I look more into experience than what college you came from because I think a person who has 10 years of experience would be more reliable than a person who has a million degrees or is certified in something. Paper smart does me no good.

2) I look for intelligence and how he or she answers my questions. I make sure they look directly at me and into my eyes so that I can tell if they are being legit.

3) I look at how many years they have been with a company. If there is a person who has changed jobs EVERY year, I tend to avoid hiring that person because who's to say they will not quit after a year after working for me?

4) Mannerism - I need to know they are not going to talk back and make sarcastic and caddy remarks or who likes to control things. Every team leader or manager hates confrontational people because we fear that they will not follow directions well.

5) Technical questions is important. Make sure you know your stuff. However, there are some people who are just bad at taking technical exams in an interview so if thats the case, I always appreciate it when they tell me in advance that they are more into hands on experience than knowing their technical jargon. They tell me they are quick learners and they remind of how much experience they have. References are a must.

And try not to ever bring up salary until they do. We dont want to think you just want to work for the money.
