If it's a race of people then where are the proofs? If it's genetics then what about the parents? If it's a lifestyle then why ask for rights? If other lifestyes i.e. the rich, thieves, etc., ask for their rights, would this be wrong or foolish? Just curious.

Is heterosexuality a race? A lifestyle? An instinct or a choice?
You ask [us] about wanting rights, yet you already have your own. Do/would you feel the same about blacks, asians, etc.?

Xq28 is believed to be the gene of "the gays", although it isn't quite proven. As for my parents, well, they were clearly heterosexual. Sorry, I've just gotta throw a big "DUH" in there...

For the record, "gay" is a lifestyle. Being homosexual is not. We do not define our lives by our sexuality (although like the heterosexual community, there are sluts, whores, etc).

Let's say we stripped away the rights of heterosexuals, told them their lifestyle was wrong, evil, or an abomination... Wouldn't that make us the monsters?

What if you loved someone so much you wanted to bond with them forever, but were told you couldn't because your love was wrong in the eyes of the world -and in the eyes of a god that may or may not exist?

How would you feel if you have to live your life as a lie, pretending to be something you know you aren't? Does that make you wrong, immoral, or evil? How would it feel to live a life where you would potentially fear being beaten or beaten to death because you love someone, or because you had an extra skip in your step, or any other stereotype you can fill-in here?

Where's the proof that heterosexuality is better? Where does it say we don't have the right to live, to pursue our happiness?! What religion or reason could drive a man to foresake his lover?

Homosexuality is not a crime against man or nature.

From an evolutionary standpoint, homosexuality is nature's population control.

For heterosexual guys who hate homosexual guys I ask this: What the f#c% are you worried about? Not every homosexual man is out to nail you. Believe me, there are some ugly MFs out there, and you are definitely not what we're looking for. Besides, if we're out chasing other gay men, there's more pu$$y for you to fight over! So WTF?! Lighten up, get over yourselves, and move on with your life.

For my lesbian comrades, sorry 'bout that comment...

In short, "Live and let live."

Its not a race, thats like saying blonds are there own race, or short people. You are born with certain characterists, and this happens to be one of them, MOST of the time.

Gentics is prolly the best answer. And don;t come with the gay gene crap either cuz you point out the straight gene, and ill point out the gay gene.

And a lifestyle...no. Not an accurate discription because that implies that all gay and lesbians live the same way, and that;s not true. Everyone has differences....and my question would be why not ask for rights?

The fact is rich people DO have rights. Thieves DO have rights. Every single human being in the word has rights. But if you;re implying, well if it is a choice, unlike being black or white, why ask for rights and not just change ur decisions well.....and this always kills me. People can change there religon anytime they want to. Many do. Religon is very much a choice, yet noone can be discriminated against for being a different religon. You may be born into a culture where one religon is predominate, but here in AMERICA there is a plethra of religous denominations. You can choose any or none. And you still have rights.....You may have certain consequences ithin the religon itself, not being married at the alter or in a certain type of church, but when you go to apply for a marriage license, noone says "oh Im sorry, marriage is only for two Christians. Not a christian and a buddahist.

I don't think that it is either. It's obviously not a race, but there are plenty of things that are inherited besides race. And there are many recessive genes that don't show up in every generation.

Personally, I think the question of genetics or not is moot. The real question is if gay and lesbian people are a fully a part of the human condition or a bizarre fetish to be ignored. I've never met a gay person with a "lifestyle", but I know people with lives. Do we in a free society accept consentual adult behavior or do we stigmatize it? Theft is inherantly not consentual so it is an improper comparison. And if you believe what the Republicans tell you, richness is next to godliness anyway.

I can also tell you that it doesn't matter how people categorize us, or even why we are here - the point is that we're not going anywhere. If you pass amendments against us, we'll just work twice as hard to repeal them. Stigmatizing us or making it 10X as hard for us to care for our families, partners, and children will not make us go away, stop dating each other, or stop raising children, it will just make us better at coping with adversity.

So the issue is less about origins, and what to do with us now that we are here.

it is neither -- there is certainly a lifestyle that some homosexuals engage in -- but the "condition" of homosexuality is neither racial nor lifestyle based. It is apparently genetic -- just as many other things are.

There are about 3 studies a year that come out now offering additional indicators or proofs that homosexuality is probably genetic. The most absolutely compelling of course is the fruitfly study. (Link in source section). Many things that are not racial are genetic by the way, as I said above. My favorite comparison is with being left-handed. In fact, the Right Reverend John Shelby Spong, a bishop in my Church (Anglican/Episcopalian) uses that exact example in combination with the Bishop of the diocese of Christ Church in South Africa. Together they created something called the Catechesis* On Homosexuality to which I have also provided a link.

So again, having something be genetic does not mean it belongs to a different race.

Parents carry genes that they do not express routinely, particularly important are genes carried on the X but expressed only by males (many researchers think x28 is responsible for male homosexuality in fact -- a number of studies on the gene have been undertaken, several more are in progress.)

Kind regards,

PS To timmy -- false, and demonstrably so. The number of animals that are exclusively homosexual in species that have homosexual members vary -- but the percentages in some species is much higher than ours, and in others lower. I would point you to the book "Biological Exuberance" by Dr. Bruce Bagemihl, from St. Martin's Press. You can probably get an inexpensive used copy from Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

NOT a race -- homosexuality occurs across all racial and ethnic groups

PROBABLY genetics -- It is, after all, something that many people people are born with -- but not all. There may be a genetic predisposition which is nurtured by circumstances. After all, exclusively homosexual behavior has been noted in most animal species.

NOT a lifestyle, but a life. Not smoking is a lifestyle choice, and non-smokers ask for special rights all the time.

NOT psychological, but neurological. The brains of many homosexuals are physically different from those of heterosexuals. Not most, and not all.

So, I would have to say "None of the above."

you don't relish seeing T-Birds race over a cliff? Now THAT"s authentic racism. Being adverse to gay Marriage has 0 to do with racism. that's named homophobic by ability of leftists. Anti civil rights, bigotry. at the same time as that's none of those. they are putting forward that to shame and close you down. at the same time as being adverse to gay Marriage is being FOR the yin and yang of making a captivating new advent. an entire from 2 unique aspects. no longer even a religious remember. you're for preserving the unique and intensely particular alterations between guy and woman. In equivalent harmonious union of marriage. 2 yins nor 2 yangs do no longer create a sparkling total. that's similar to putting forward you think the acceptable for elevating a baby is a moms and dads. which couldn't in any respect putting forward you hate and despise singles. Nor unmarried mothers and fathers. that's merely your IMHO of what an acceptable is.

Animals can also have homosexual tendencies like humans. However, the number of animals compared to the species in a whole are very few. Animals lack the mental process of cognition, and given the number of gay people compared to the general human population, the answer you are looking for is that its a lifestyle choice....totally mental.

Homosexuality is a concept, a noun. Homosexuals are a subset of humanity, like lefties, albinos, vegans, Torys, Howard Stern fans, Whigs, etc.
Homosexual behavior is a choice, yes. Being a homosexual is not. Homosexuals are humans whose make up leads towards emotional, and hopefully physical, bonding with members of the same sex.
Latest research I know of points to in utero hormone influence. For example, (note, this only applies to right handed gay men?) the more older brothers a man has (the more male foetuses that have inhabited a female's womb) the more likely that right handed male will be gay. My one friend just came to admit his gayness, and he has 4 older brothers.
Left handed gay men are not affected this way?
also, notice the length of your index finger, compared to your ring finger. Gay men and lesbians tend, repeat TEND to have longer ring fingers than index fingers. Straight folks tend to have longer index fingers than ring ringers.
weird, huh?
