OK... First things first... you need to have your first appointment... at 12 weeks you will have your first scan, a dating scan and some hospitals will also offer a nuchal translucency scan which can detect things like down syndrome and spina bifida. You lose this window after 12 weeks.
You will experience cramps early on and some women experience them right through pregnancy. The very early stages the cramping can be caused by implantation, when the embryo burrows into the lining of the womb to attach itself.
Later on, cramping can be caused by muscles moving and stretching to accomodate your growing uterus.
Of course some women sail through pregnancy without feeling a thing.
If the cramps get too severe and you experience any bleeding, then you should seek medical attention immediately.
But first, please, get yourself booked in for the first appointment and get the care that you and your baby deserve and pay taxes for!

Period-like cramps during pregnancy, as long as they are mild and not frequent and/or regular, are the body's way of preparing for actual child birth. Please discuss any concerns with your health professional, as every pregnancy is different. With a first pregnancy, you don't know what to expect and everything that happens can be rather unnerving, so it is best, no matter how silly you might feel, to ask a professional so you can gain knowledge about the changes your body is going through. Knowledge is much more reassuring than "old-wives tales". Good luck.

It's normal. I didn't have them at all with my first pregnancy (which sadly I miscarried). They weren't to bad with my but I got pregnant again 10 months after having my son and because it's so soon after, the cramps are almost painful (which the doctor said was to be expected because of the timing). When I asked my doctor about the cramping with my son she told me not to worry. I believe she said it was caused by the uterus trying to expand and grow. I'm not 100% sure. Just try to relax.

When I was pregnant with my first child this really scared me when this happened. I called my mid-wife immediately and she told me that it was normal. That sometimes around the time of your normal cycle you will experience this and even sometimes have some spotting. Your body is still adjusting to the pregnancy and that is one of the things that it still does.
Then it started happening at times that were not my regular cycle time. Again I was worried (normal first time mommy LOL) then my midwife told me that it was still normal. She of course checked everything out but everything was fine. She said that sometimes that happens. And sometimes that when you are stretching and pulling in those areas it feels like cramping even though its really not actually cramping just the normal stretching of your stomach.
If they become severe or if you have any other concerns contact your doctor but you are fine!

Assuming you're not bleeding or having any other symptoms, I'd say it's just your uterus stretching to accomodate for the growing baby. Mine did the same thing. Just wait until you sneeze and it feels like your stomach is going to be ripped out. Oy vey! I had that happen with both of my pregnancies. It's the round ligaments stretching.

I would see your doctor cos I was the same and it ended up I had a water infection. Its nothing to worry about the doctor gave me a 5 day course of antibiotics and its common in early pregnancy.

You will naturally feel cramps when pregenant exactly like your period due to stretching. If it's severe then ask your doctor. You never want the pregnancy to take place in your tubes as it will become fatal if neglected.

actually i had the same problem. i ended up going to the hosipital afraid i was going to miscarry the baby but to find out its because i had a urinary tract infection and also my hips were starting to stretch. you could have a early on urinary tract infection but don't worry its normal.
you may want to go to your local book store though and get the book called What to Except When You are Expecting. it has great advice and carries you through your whole pregnancy.

Do you just have the cramps or having period too. Then if it is period, then go ask the doctor. If you habe just cramps, you could have other reasons but still ask doctor.
