So I am ready for a change and ive always wanted to live in warmer weather. Going to Florida next month, dotn mind the heat as I am priginally from the Caribbean. My parents, sister and cousin all want to move but I am not sure if I should. Ilive in a small town and Im sick of the cold. Plus its getting pretty expensive to live down here. Idont want to stay by myself. We are looking to live about half hour from Miami.Any tips, or advise.

First... Sorry to hear about the breakup. I hope that you will find someone who deserves you no matter where you end up.

Second... South Florida has (like everyplace else) advantages and disadvantages.

Before my wife and I moved down here, we did quite a bit of research. We found that the State of Florida website was very useful in helping us figure a lot of things out.

You might want to take a look at their website:
http://www.stateofflorida.com

They also have a guide on moving to Florida:
http://www.stateofflorida.com/Portal/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=132
which has come in handy a few times since our move.

Best of luck whereever you end up!

Hope this helps!

There are definetly the good things and the bad things about living in S. florida. Some of the good things are the beaches, and nightlife. There are also lots of jobs available and you are close to the Caribbean islands. The bad things include hurricanes. Reparing your home could be expensive, and you have no electricity. The weather is really nice though in the winter and spring. Broward County is a nice place to live. There are lots of nice cities/towns, and the Ft. Lauderdale airport is much less hectic and crowded then miami airport.

Miami isn't really any cheaper to live than CT. But hey if you're not bothered by the heat and need a change go for it!

If you like overcrowdedness. Florida's population is creeping North from South Florida because there is no more room!!
