This COULD be to do with your partner being on porn sites, or they could just be random popups depending on which site you are on at the time when they pop up.

It could be spyware/adware on your computer. You will need to download something like adaware, or spybot S&D to get rid of unwanted files.

Download adaware here:

Download spybot here:

Both are free.

I would also advise getting a decent virus scanner, for this try AVG free:

I recommend getting all three of these (all are free). Hopefully that should clear up your problem.

Oh ... and as something extra, download ccleaner (also free!). It's a useful tool for getting rid of uneeded files, and an easy way to clear the internet browser cache / history files.

My mother in law gets the same problem and doesn't surf for porn but has been inadverdantly clicking on those ads that look like windows warning boxes.

Windows XP has an in built pop up blocker, alternatively if you install the google toolbar it has a pop up blocker too.

Yeah, he's probably on something he's not supposed to be on...get a spy ware remover to get rid of the spy ware keeping the pop ups there.

Install Ad-Aware by LavaSoft.
It's free, and scan your system regularly.

Also the Yahoo and Google toolbars have pop-up blockers
and they are free too.

The more protection you have the safer you are.

clear the history in
windows
tool setting
change the settings in such a way that your partner has difficulty
to connect to the sights he visits
that would make him aware of you
